Max combines psychology, philosophy, behavioural economics, pop culture and ancient wisdom to deliver sharp insights for modern business. He cuts through the noise of the AI revolution and shows how technology can boost well-being, productivity and innovation. Max’s writing and commentary has appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald, The Canberra Times, ABC's Religion & Ethics Report and The Economist. His latest book The Freedom Trap was released by Acorn Press in March 2025.
He has worked as a lawyer and served as a political and policy adviser in the Rudd-Gillard Governments. Max was educated at the Australian National University and the University of Oxford and is currently undertaking a PhD in Law on the ethical foundations of human dignity.
Max lives in Sydney with his wife Fiona and their three young children, speaking regularly across Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, The UK and The US.
